Lupe drops a new single from his follow-up to Food & Liquor.

This week, Chicago MC Lupe Fiasco stunned fans with the surprise release of the first single, “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)”, pulled from his upcoming album, Food & Liquor 2.

“Around My Way”, which is produced by Simonsayz and B-Side, features a prominent sample from Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth’s classic track, “T.R.O.Y.”, which originally angered Pete Rock, who produced the original track. According to reports, Lupe and Pete Rock have since squashed any potential beef and come to an agreement on the sample’s use.

Lupe’s upcoming Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album (its full title), will be his first release since 2011′s Lasers, which was embroiled in label politics and backlash from fans. After being held hostage in what was reported as a strong-arm attempt by Atlantic Records, Lasers eventually release last year received mixed reviews, including many fans who felt the album was a pop record, rather than a continuity of Lupe’s previous works.

The new record will be the follow-up to the original Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor (2006), which received wide critical acclaim, and is often revered as Lupe’s best work to date.

A release date for the album has not been announced.

Listen to the first single from Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor 2, “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)”, below.

Sole's new solo LP is due out sometime this fall.

Today, Portland, Maine-born MC, Sole, announced the release of a new solo album, titled A Ruthless Criticism Of Everything Existing.

The founder and former head of Anticon is touting it as his first new retail album in nearly seven years. “[This album is] the most militant and empowered music I have ever made,” he said in a statement about the record.

Production on the record is helmed by a number of Sole’s contemporaries, as well as some of his own work, including tracks from Alias, Busdriver, Factor, Man Mantis, Cobraconda, Ryan Hemsworth, and more.

According to Sole, he has recorded approximately 25 tracks for the album, and appears to be in the process of finalizing the tracklist for the upcoming LP. Among those tracks, the newly-released track “Jungle of the Real”, produced by Man Mantis, is a record that didn’t make the final cut.

Sole has collaborated extensively with Florida’s Skyrider band, releasing two albums in 2011 under the collective moniker Sole & The Skyrider Band. In addition, he also released an EP, the sixth of his Man’s Best Friend series, last year.

A release date for Sole’s A Ruthless Criticism Of Everything Existing is not yet announced, although the rapper/producer said that he anticipates a fall 2012 release. Stream/download “Jungle of the Real” below.

New York rap veteran El-P’s newest album, Cancer For Cure, is available as a full-album stream via RollingStone.com.

His newest album features an assortment of eclectic guests, including hip-hop cohorts Danny Brown, Despot, and Killer Mike, as well as less-rap-inclined appearances by Interpol’s Paul Banks and Nick Diamonds from the Canadian indie rock outfit, Islands.

The album has made its rounds on the less-legal side of the Internet, leading El-P to acknowledge the album’s leak. He seemed amicable and rather unfazed, taking to Twitter and Facebook to simply ask that those who enjoy the album also purchase it legally upon release.

The famed MC/producer’s newest effort is his first since 2007′s I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead and follows closely on the heels of Dungeon Family’s Killer Mike’s newest LP, R.A.P. Music, which was produced entirely by El-P.

El-P’s Cancer For Cure is due out tomorrow (May 22) via Fat Possum Records.

Mac's newest fast rap video offers grammar lessons.

Kansas City’s Mac Lethal, today, released the latest in his series of tongue-in-cheek videos showcasing his ultra-fast rapping ability.

Using the instrumental from Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” hit, Mac Lethal used this video to take on poor grammar by rapping about the difference between using “your” — the possessive — and”you’re” — the contraction.

“This one is a contraction,” Mac raps, holding up a sign that reads “YOU’RE”. “You apostrophe are — like ready for action.” He makes the distinction, then, rapping, “This one is your — possessive — your gun, your beer, your mom’s a whore.”

“Possessives and contractions are, apparently, just something that you used to know,” Mac sings to the key of the original song.

Previously, Mac Lethal has gained fame for his fast rap video to the “Look At Me Now” (Chris Brown) beat while he casually cooked pancakes and drank orange juice. Prior to that, Mac has also released videos rapping over Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” and a number of other popular tracks.

Check out the newest fast rap video by Mac Lethal below.

The two Strange Famous compatriots join forces in a new video for the track “2BAD” from B. Dolan’s upcoming House of Bees Vol. 2. Both donning their signature unkempt facial hair, Sage and Dolan proceed to cause a ruckus within — what appears to be — an abandoned school. Graffiti, “breack” dancing, and more ensues.

Pre-order packages for House of Bees Vol. 2 are available now via SFR. Album is due out on June 12.
