We’ve got another aboveGround exclusive for all you true hip-hop heads! This is the official drop for the Nima Fadavi remix of Alexander Spit’s track “Hella” off his latest album Until Next Summer (download here for free). Described as a “20-something year old San Franciscan with stale cigarette breath, a faded vintage tee and ex-girlfriend stress”, Spit’s music will tell you tales of “the Bohemian life, strange relationships, and nerdy obsessions presented with the same bravado that Jay-Z raps about his yachts and villas with”. Fadavi is a Bay Area producer who’s worked with an impressive list of West Coast indie artists and has continued to show his talent time and time again.

Lateef Dameer put together a project of his instrumentals, remixes and even some raps as an exclusive release for aboveGround Magazine. Take this as a showcase of his abilities with a clear and concise message. The New York City-based producer and MC is humble and hard-working, something of a testament to the work ethic of an artist truly on their grind. He’s put out this project to make his point: hip-hop is not dead.

Akream, our August featured Under the Basement artist, and Ice Box Entertainment have teamed up with Mac Lethal and his Kansas-City-based Black Clover Records to bring you “Beautiful Skin”, a call to step away from acting like a “thug”, in hip-hop and in life. This track will be featured on Akream’s upcoming album For The Kids, no word on whether it will be featured on any of Mac’s upcoming projects. This may well be the beginning of big things between Black Clover and Ice Box/Arctic Flow following Akream’s one-man-show at Black Clover Beerfest on September 17. Word on the street is that there is a big announcement coming soon–stay tuned and enjoy.
