From DJJS1.blogspot.com:
Dj Skizz of The Halftime Radio Show, and myself, DJ JS-1, got together to do another classic mix… So this time around we decided to do a full mix using ONLY remixes. Many of these remixes are rare, uncommon, or not played out. We tried to narrow it down to remixes we personally liked because there is soo many. Most of these tracks are from the 90’s era. We did miss a few, but there’s always vol 2. Sooo, while many other djays are lazy with wack music knowledge, i do everything i can to keep bringing you good music, classic tracks, some rare hiphop, and never jumping ship to play cornball commercial nonsense. I hope you enjoy and appreciate our mixes… please repost, re-blast, retweet, and tell a friend… thank you. DJ JS-1… Rock Steady Crew…

…West Coast Beats includes a concoction of snippets of instrumentals from the upcoming album, exclusive Oddisee beats, the first single, “So Supreme”, and an exclusive Oddisee-produced Trek Life track called “Get In Touch”…
While Oddisee’s beats have a laid back California feel, he adds a strong synth that keeps reigns on the tracks and keeps them from becoming repetitive. The mixture of styles separates California music from its usual clichés by adding an urban feel. Oddisee says, “When I cruise LA and listen to those tracks I really feel like we accomplished what we set out to [do] with this album, giving a city theme music.”
The two full tracks on the mixtape, “Get In Touch,” and “So Supreme,” show how the blending of Oddisee’s beats back up Trek Life’s lyrical flow. Even though “Get In Touch” will not be on the full LP, it embraces the same theme as the album and is a good indication, along with “So Supreme” of the high quality of the music Trek Life and Oddisee have been making together.
Pick up physical copies of Trek Life’s Everything Changed Nothing via Mello Music Group August 10th, or get it digitally July 27th.

From Trek Life:
“This mixtape came about by Tommy Blak raiding my studio Hard Drive and finding a folder of tracks that I had done with other people over the last few years… he felt like he should put them together so that people could see what other stuff I had done since Price I’ve Paid.” Blak’s efforts have resulted in something very special for fans.
“(Tommy Blak) felt like there were some “golden” verses that the Trek Life fans had never heard,” he explains. Blak’s selection includes the emcee’s work with artists like Oddisee (producer of Trek’s upcoming LP) who checks in on the “Heralds of Change” a thick track decorated with a barrage of heavy distorted bass, as well as “Radio Talk”. The mix also features the track “Do It Again” a track by LMNO that featured Trek and Kev Brown. Trek Life’s work with J. Bizness is also showcased on tracks like “Temporary Goodbye”.
Look for Trek Life’s new album Before Everything Changed later this month.
