Get Familiar: Kyle Lucas
Kyle Lucas may be gaining recent celebrity from his cameos in Big Boi’s music videos, but viewers would be dead wrong to assume he is merely an extra. The MC is the front man for Vonnegutt and a member of Big Boi’s Purple Ribbon label.
Kyle began recieving notoriety for his lyrical prowess with solo projects Kyle Lucas is My Favorite and the EP collaboration with Captain Midnite, I Brought Dead Flowers to a FUNeral, along with Vonnegutt’s The Vice Nine EP and The Appetizer EP. Currently working on a follow up project with Captain Midnite, as well as new Vonnegutt material, 2011 will be another step for the Marietta native. With an already strong foundation to his career, and the Outkast member by his side, Kyle is an artist to watch for, or for artists to watch out for.

Tell us something no one knows about you.
Umm… I love comic books {laughs}. I’m not sure if that’s what you were going for, I’m pretty honest to the fans and everyone through my music. There’s not much that isn’t really out there for public consumption.
What do you want people to take away from your music?
That I absolutely love making music. It’s my everything. It’s how I coup with all the drama, heartache and how I express myself. It’s really me just giving 100% of myself to the fans. My fans are the greatest and I appreciate all the incredible feedback from them.
What is one of your biggest regrets?
Shit, probably giving my ex-girlfriend the satisfaction of not only writing a song about her, but an entire EP. {Laughs}, I mean I guess pain makes for great art, but looking back she wasn’t worth it.
What’s one of your greatest hip-hop memories?
One of my greatest hip-hop memories was performing “Kryptonite” with Big Boi in Detroit. That was unplanned. Neil and I just finished performing “Follow Us,” and Big bringing me back on for “Kryptonite” was super dope. That’s one of my favorite songs and being able to rock it with Big and C-bone was ill.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully still making music and touring. If all things go as planned, Vonnegutt will have a solid fan base and the ability to tour for awhile would be awesome. Also recording heavily; I have multiple side projects lined up and making mixtapes is one of my passions, so still doing that!
