You Need This Music: Apathy, Grieves, Jean Grae, The ILLZ, Curren$y
It’s almost 4th of July here in the US, which is a great excuse to drink all weekend and bump hip hop on the beach. Since the 4th falls next Monday I probably won’t be back until a day or two afterwards. Peep this weeks recap.
1.) Apathy – Check to Check [Prod. Evidence]
Set for an August 23rd release date is Honkey Kong by Apathy. Features come from the the likes of Xzibit, Slaine, Action Bronson and a few more as well as production by Dj Premier, Dj Muggs, Statik Selektah and Evidence. This is the track “Check to Check” produced by Evidence and if you like what you hear, be sure to mark down the date on your calendar.

2.) Grieves – On The Rocks [Prod. Budo]
Off Grieves new album Together/Apart available now on iTunes comes the video for the third single “On The Rocks.” This album was well worth the wait and I highly suggest buying it. If you haven’t heard the other singles yet they are “Bloody Poetry” and “Lightspeed”, both of which have videos.

Jean Grae’s mixtape Cookies or Comas hosted by Dj Drama dropped June 23rd and I’m putting it up again for you guys to download in case you missed it. Features from the likes of Talib Kweli, Royce da 5’9″, Pharoahe Monch and Styles P. Yeah, shame on you if you missed it.

4.) The ILLZ – In Between Us
The ILLZ are set to start Let It Fall sometime in July, which is going to be a string of videos. Here’s the prequel to the series “In Between Us.”
5.) Curren$y – She Don’t Want A Man
Last but not least is the video for Curren$y’s “She Don’t Want A Man” off Weekend At Burnie’s available for pre-order on iTunes now. He let the whole album stream live for 24 hours last week and I must say if you were a fan of Pilot Talk and Pilot Talk 2, go click that pre-order button. #JetsGo
