Out This Week: Ras G, Swollen Members
It’s a slow week for new releases, but there are two albums that are worth checking out this week (plus more that we probably haven’t been hipped to quite yet; maybe you can drop us a line down below if we missed something worth noting?)
Ras G – Down 2 Earth
“Ghetto sci-fi” beatmaker and Flying Lotus affiliate Ras G preps the release of his newest offering, Down 2 Earth. Although the name implies that his works may have a more-terrestrial feel, expect a healthy dose of his usually-abstract concoctions informed by a marriage of bleep-bloopy synths and gritty jazz samples.
Swollen Members – Monsters II
Canadian-based group Swollen Members reaches to the West coast to bring in collaborators Raaka Iriscience (Dilated Peoples) and Souls of Mischief for their newest effort. Bordering on a rap-rock sound, the group’s newest 12-track disc encompasses a number of varying styles and genre molds.
