Captain Planet – Cookin’ Gumbo

The fairly-known studio chemist Captain Planet is poised to release his debut solo effort, Cookin’ Gumbo courtesy of the Bastard Jazz imprint. The hip hop/jazz/soul fusion sounds will be available on all formats (CD, digital, vinyl). Check out a track from the album, “Get You Some” which feature Brit Lauren.

Metermaids – Rooftop Shake

NYC rap duo, the Metermaids, teams up with Sage Francis’s Strange Famous imprint for the release of their newest effort. Working fairly-extensively with producer 9th Wonder, the slightly-avant-garde group has a sound that brings together the worlds of progressive sounds and soulful beatwork.

DJ JS-1 – The Essential Collection

After releasing his third album earlier this year, DJ JS-1 is slated to release a massive, jam-packed compilation in The Essential Collection. With 22 full tracks, the album features appearances from more notable MCs than we could possibly list. Sean Price, Evidence, Royce da 5’9″, Tonedeff, Masta Ace, Kool G Rap, Immortal Technique, C-Rayz Walz and many more.
