Out This Week: Styles P, Dessa, Krumbsnatcha, Exile, DJ Shadow
A ton of new and highly-anticipated releases this week. Albums from the likes of Styles P, Doomtree’s Dessa, left-coast beat wiz Exile, DJ Shadow and more.
Styles P – Master of Ceremonies
Yonkers native and D-Block / The LOX member Styles P gears up for the release of his first solo album in four years. Master of Ceremonies is the fourth solo release.
Dessa – Castor, The Twin
Doomtree’s songstress and MC, Dessa, unveils her newest effort, Castor, The Twin. Featuring a broad and deep range of genres, Dessa displays her chops at both singing and rapping (likely in two languages), as well as an impressive poetic prowess.
Krumbsnatcha – Resurrection of the Golden Wolf
Wu-Tang and Gang Starr affiliate, Krumbsnatcha, offers his newest album. After emerging as a respected MC in the 1990s under the tutelage of late GURU, Krumb has continued to build his brand as the heir to the gritty, East-coast sound. His newest works, a 22-track record, even features two appearances from Gifted Unlimited himself.
Exile – 4 TRK MIND
California producer Exile liberates his newest effort, composed entirely with the assistance of 4-track technology. Exile not only lays down his coveted, soul- and funk-fueled production on the album, but also steps out from behind the boards to establish himself as an MC.
DJ Shadow – The Less You Know, The Better
Hugely-acclaimed beatsmith and turntablish DJ Shadow returns from his latest hiatus with the release of The Less You Know, The Better. Despite his reclusive tendencies, Shadow has reemerged multiple times in recent years, each time surfacing with a new musical offering. This time, Shadow has apparently returned “to form” so to speak, falling back into a previous pattern of more-traditional boom-bap soundscapes.
