Photo Exhibition Chronicles Creation of Mos Def’s ‘The Ecstatic’
A photograph exhibition being held in Los Angeles will detail the two-year process behind the creation of Mos Def’s latest release, The Ecstatic. The photographs, taken by photographer and filmmaker Cognito, will showcase behind-the-scenes footage of the creative process as well as after-release photographs of various live performances to support the album.
“Mos Def: Ecstatic Moments” chronicles shows including visits to the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa, Sao Paulo, Brazil and extensive coverage of the US Summer Tour featuring appearances from Jay Electronica, Talib Kweli and Erykah Badu.
Cognito also snapped shots of in-the-studio work including collaboration with Madlib, OH NO, and Georgia Anne Muldrow.
Union LA, one of the exhibition’s sponsors has also released a t-shirt in collaboration with the showcase.

The Mos Def: Ecstatic Moments exhibition will be open to the public from January 30, 2010 through February 6, 2010 at the HVW8 Art + Design Gallery, located at 661 N. Spaulding Ave., Los Angeles CA, 90036.
More information on the exhibit can be found at Frolab.com. T-shirts can be purchased from Union LA’s online store.
