Stussy and Stones Throw To Drop Dilla Tee

Irvine-based clothing company Stussy and record label Stones Throw have announced plans to team up in February to release a t-shirt commemorating the late J Dilla.

The tee will feature what has come to be known as one of the most iconic pictures of Jay Dee, as he works in his then-home in LA’s studio that occupied what would have been his dining room. The photograph was taken in 2005 by Raph Rashid for his book titled, Behind The Beat: Hip-Hop Home Studios.

Usage of Dilla’s photo has been officially licensed by his heirs, following a very public re-organizing of the late producer’s estate.

The tee will be released February 13 and made available in both white and black colorways. It will be for sale via Stonesthrow.com and in Stussy locations. There are expected to be announcements sometime soon regarding multi-state release parties commemorating the shirt.

February 10 marks the four-year anniversary since the passing of the great producer J Dilla, who died at the age of 32 from cardiac arrest thought to have stemmed from an extended battle with both Lupus and a rare blood disease known as thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura. May he, and his legacy live on forever.

  1. Hey! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could find a captcha plugin for my comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having difficulty finding one? Thanks a lot!
