Beastie Boys Announce ‘Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2′ Release Date
The legendary New York rap trio announce the release date of their eighth studio album.
Ad-Rock, Mike D and MCA revealed details about their forthcoming LP, Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2, the “follow-up” to the indefinitely delayed Pt. 1 installment.
Scheduled for a release on April 19, Hot Sauce Committee will be the group’s first studio album since 2007′s instrumental effort, The Mix-Up. It will be the first album to feature the three MCs rapping since their 2004 album, To The 5 Boroughs.
The first installment of the Hot Sauce series (Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1) has been delayed indefinitely. Initially slated for a release on December 29, 2009, the album was put on hold following Adam Yaunch (MCA)’s cancer diagnosis that same year.
In an interview with BBC, Mike D said that fans should expect some surprises from the forthcoming release. “We’ve got a video we got to finish, a big video,” he explained. “I know people don’t make big videos any more but we made a big video. It’s not even a video, it’s a ‘film-eo.’ A cinematic, short film.”
It’s unclear at this time whether Mike is referring to the previously-announced “Fight For Your Right Revisited“, the star-studded Sundance film that chronicles the events following the music video for the group’s 1986 single, “(You’ve Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)”. The film debuted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival in January.
Beastie Boys’ newest effort is set to be released in April via Capitol/EMI Records.
