Blue Scholars Announce ‘Cinemetropolis’ Release Date
The Seattle duo unveils the release date for their newest, fan-funded effort.
The Blue Scholars (Sabzi and Geologic) announced on their website yesterday that they’ve decided on an official release date for their forthcoming effort, Cinemetropolis. In addition, they announced that the release will be made available in a limited-edition 2-LP set, available to those who contribute to the group’s Kickstarter campaign to fund the album.
“You spoke, we listened, and yes: we will be pressing the next album, Cinemetropolis, on wax for all you vinyl heads out there,” wrote Geologic. According to the announcement, the vinyl copy of the album will only be made available for a single pressing of 500 copies.
Geo also revealed the release date for the album, announcing that Cinemetropolis will be drop on June 14.
The Blue Scholars announced earlier in the month that they’ll be forgoing the traditional label release for their fourth studio release. Instead, the group has started a campaign on the crowd-funding site, Kickstarter.com, asking fans to contribute directly to the production of the album, receiving various rewards, ranging from a Twitter shout out to a VIP package and advanced copy of the album, in exchange for their contributions.
With an initial goal of raising $25,000 to fund the project, the group has since raised more than $37,000 (as of press time) and still have 22 days to continue raising funds.
