MF GRIMM Set to Release New Album with Comic by Mahfood
Manhattan native MF GRIMM will release his eighth studio album, titled You Only Live Twice: The Audio Graphic Novel, accompanied by a Jim Mahfood-illustrated graphic novel on May 18, he announced last week.
The MC who was once sentenced to life in prison has been out of the music world for nearly four years. After being released in 2003, he recorded a slew of albums, his latest being the 2007 release, The Hunt for the Gingerbread Man. GRIMM has always been interested in comic book culture, and sees his 13-track album with adjoining 13-page comic as sort of step back into music while still paying homage to the world of comics. “Although it’s time to return to music, I want to display my love and appreciation of the comic book world,” he said.
Jim Mahfood (Clerks) will handle illustrations for the graphic novel. This will mark the second novel of this sort that GRIMM has been involved in. His award-winning 2007 graphic novel, Sentences: The Life of MF GRIMM, recounted his personal tale.
Twice‘s production will be handled by Twiz the Beat Pro, an affiliate of GRIMM’s Day By Day Entertainment, founded in 1999 prior to his incarceration.
