GZA to Release ‘Liquid Swords 2′, Produced by RZA
The Wu-Tang Clan’s most prevalent in-house beatsmith will step back into the limelight to produce the beats for clan-mate GZA’s forthcoming Liquid Swords 2, the follow-up to his highly-revered sophomore solo record, according to a tweet from RZA.
There is yet to be any word of an exact release date other than sometime in the Fall of this year. But, the message posted to RZA’s Twitter page confirms the rumor of a Liquid Swords follow-up album, which will again feature a GZA/RZA combination that many fans have speculated about for years.
The albums comes on the tails of long-awaited reunion of Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon for their Wu-Massacre collaborative album, which was met with lukewarm reception by many media outlets. In addition, it marks the second time that a Clansman has released a follow-up to their most well received work of all time in the past 12 months. Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx … Pt. II hit store in early September of 2009 and was widely accepted as a worthy predecessor to the album’s first inception.
