ODB’s Son, Young Dirt Bastard to Release ‘Food Stamp Celebrity’ Mixtape?
The official Wu-Tang Facebook account makes mention of the forthcoming release from ODB’s son, but is it just a joke?
Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s son, under the name Young Dirty Bastard, may be releasing a mixtape toward the end of May, according to a post on the official Wu-Tang Facebook page. Although there was an announcement about the release, including what appears to be cover art for the release, some fans remain skeptical about it’s legitimacy.
“Is this some sort of joke, [I don't] like it if it is,” wrote one fan in response to the post, which proclaimed that Young Dirty Bastard’s Food Stamp Celebrity mixtape with DJ Absolute will be released in stores on May 24.
Others have gone on to call into question the talents of YDB and claim that his intentions only lie in profiting from the legacy of his father, the late Dirt McGirt.
If the announcement is true, it would mark the first official release from YDB. But, he isn’t an entirely new face for Wu-Tang aficionados. Last year, YDB was enlisted by the rest of the Clan members to perform at the Rock The Bells tour dates. The group performed the entirety of their highly-touted group release, 36 Chambers. YDB performed the parts originally filled by his father.
The Wu-Tang camp has yet to release a formal announcement recognizing the release. More details to follow as they become available.
