Blue Scholars Offer ‘Cinemetropolis’ Album Stream Two Weeks Early
The Northwest duo unveils their newest full-length effort on BandCamp before it officially drops.
Just two weeks before the retail release of their new album, Cinemetropolis, Sabzi and Geologic — best known as the Seattle-based rap group, Blue Scholars — have released the full-length release to stream and purchase on their BandCamp page.
“[Due] to popular demand, we’ve made Cinemetropolis available for digital download just a little early,” wrote Prometheus Brown (Geologic) on Facebook yesterday.
The group’s new album features 15 tracks and is the first full-length new album since the group’s 2007 album Bayani. But, it really picks up from where the 2009 OOF! EP left off — specifically with respect to Sabzi’s production, which shows a clear insertion of electronic influence.
The fan-funded record raised a total of more than $62,000 (compared to a goal of $25,000) from a KickStarter campaign designed to usurp the traditional need for a record label. Backers of the project were rewarded with exclusive access to a digital copy of the album in mid-May.
Now, fans everywhere can stream and purchase the album digitally.
Cinemetropolis drops in direct-to-fan fashion officially on June 14. Stream and purchase the album below.
