Felt 3 Update: Possibly Revealed?

felt3prodtribOkay, so if you sleep under rocks then you may not be familiar with the Felt project, but it is a collaboration between Slug and Murs where they get together, pick a single producer and put out a dope album attributed to an actress who has fallen by the wayside.

It’s been announced that there is a Felt 3 in the works, but Rhymesayers has been tight-lipped about all of the details until recently. Yesterday they leaked a track from the album titled “Protagonists” which seems to give away the identity of the producer for the album when Murs says “This time Ace Rock is the drummer” (in reference to Aesop Rock) — which was later confirmed by Aesop and Slug.

As for the tribute, we have been left guessing, although there has been plenty of speculation as to who it will be. One popular theory that defies the previous guidelines is that the album will be a tribute to Sarah Palin, the ex-Governor of Alaska and ex-Vice-Presidential-candidate. It makes sense only in the fact that her career has seen more of a nose dive as of recently. We have a clue from RSE stating that “This producer once attended a New York City movie premiere with this leading lady.” which was later clarified by saying, “He didn’t exactly attend the premiere with her but they were both there.”

Although I haven’t heard of any evidence that supports Aesop’s attendance to a movie premiere which Palin was also present, I would say that this photograph of Palin from 1984 seems to match the pixelatedand blurred-out version provided as a clue to their identity.

  1. Definitely looks like Sarah Palin’s photo. As for Aesop Rock, the blurred pic doesn’t look like the clear image (differences in the background and such), but the two references in the song itself give it away. As you mentioned, there’s the first reference, “This time Ace Rock on the drums”. Then the second line which references Def Jux, the label Aesop Rock is signed to, “We still spittin’ on that indie bullshit / Legends, Rhymesayers, Def Jux, the full clip”
