Freeway Sets Sights on Next Album with Production from Just Blaze, Launching Clothing Line
Philadelphia Freeway isn’t done teaming up with big-name beatsmiths, he revealed in a recent video interview with KarmaLoop.tv. His next album, Diamond in the Ruff, which is currently in the works, will feature more production from Jake One, along with joints produced by Bink and legendary producer Just Blaze.
“I’m cooking up a new album,” he said in the interview, “What I got right now, this should be the album that came after Philadelphia Freeway.”
Free didn’t divulge whether the record will be released on Rhymesayers, home of Freeway and Jake One’s last effort, The Stimulus Package, but it will have a different feel he said. “What I’m doing with this record is like I’m taking Jake out of his element a bit, I got him in the club,” he said, going on to say he will be working with Bink, who has produced tracks for Jay-Z’s Blueprint album, along with joints from GZA, Redman and Method Man as well as working on Free’s Philadelphia Freeway album.
Finally, he announced that Just Blaze will also be handling some of the joints from the new album, although he didn’t offer up any particulars about the amount of production that he’ll be contributing.
He will also be releasing a new track produced by Jake One, titled “Beautiful Music”, for free via the interview he said, without committing to a date.
In addition, Free also told KarmaLoop that he’ll be starting a clothing line with Set Free. The line will be dubbed Freestyle, the brand’s name was written across his shirt during the interview. “Let your style be free” is the brand’s mantra, said the MC, meant to promote free self-expression through art.
No details are available yet on the upcoming music from Freeway, but him and Jake One can be found all across Europe for the rest of the month as they continue to support The Stimulus Package.
