Slaine (La Coka Nostra) Set to Star Aside Ben Affleck, Release Solo Album

Slaine (La Coka Nostra) Set to Star Aside Ben Affleck, Release Solo AlbumLa Coka Nostra MC, Slaine, is gearing up for a flurry of activity. First, he’ll be starring alongside Ben Affleck in Affleck’s sophomore directorial effort, “The Town” and he’ll follow up his appearance with the release of a new solo effort in late October.

In “The Town”, Slaine, a Boston native, will star as a fellow bank robber, alongside Affleck and Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker). The film takes place in Boston and follows the lives of serial bank robbers, who reside in the Charleston area, which is known for housing some the city’s worst criminals and has a history of Irish Mob ties.

He’s also preparing to release his fourth solo release (first official album), titled A World With No Skies. The MC is working to establish himself as a solo artist, as he feels he’s become better known as his role in La Coka Nostra (Danny Boy, Everlast, Ill Bill, DJ Lethal and Big Left) and Special Teamz (Edo G, Jaysaun and DJ JayCeeOh) he said in a statement.

“With this album I set out to create a soundscape that brings you into my world as an individual which is a fucked up place to be. It is hard, dark and aggressive from the beats to the lyrics, and a deeply personal trip through my life and the things that made me who I am today,” he said. “A World With No Skies is a look into my psyche and a vision of my dreams, nightmares, and realities.”

Guest appearances on the album include crew-mates Ill Bill and Everlast, and also B-Real of Cypress Hill and Vinnie Paz (Jedi Mind Tricks).

“The Town” will hit theaters across the country on September 17 and No Skies is slated for an October 26 release via Suburban Noize Records. Music from the new record can be streamed from Slaine’s MySpace page and the trailed for “The Town” can be viewed below.
