DJ Premier Reveals Details of Premier Vs Pete Rock Album

DJ Premier and Pete Rock are planning to an album together, DJ Premier Vs Pete Rock.It seems that good things come to those who wait. What’s been regarded as just a myth — a DJ Premier and Pete Rock “battle” album — seems to be in the works, and DJ Premier revealed details about the format in a recent interview with ItsBongoBoy.com.

“Me and Pete Rock are about to a Pete Rock Vs. Premier album,” the Houston-native explained, “where he takes six MCs of his choice and does six songs, I take six MCs of my choice and do six songs.”

“Like a friendly battle,” he called it, saying that the two can pick either individual MCs or groups. “As long as it’s six songs and we don’t tell each other who we have.”

The world-renowned DJ, who recently met Nelson Mandela in South America, also said that he’ll be teaming up with KRS-One for another full-length release. The follow-up to 1993′s Return of the Boom Bap, which featured production from Preemo among others, will be titled Return of the Boom Bip, with no release date yet announced.

In addition, Preemo discussed his upcoming compilation release, DJ Premier Presents: Year-Round Records Get Used To Us. The project will feature various artists signed to Premier’s label, but also have appearances from Teflon (MOP), KRS-One and Grand Puba (Brand Nubian).

Get Used to Us is set for a December 6 release on Year-Round Records.
