Madlib to Release New Series of Albums and Vinyl

The Stones Throw producer behind such critically acclaimed projects as Madvillainy (with MF DOOM), Jaylib (with J Dilla) and Quasimoto (his own alter-ego) will release a new set of albums and vinyl titled The Medicine Show. Madlib plans to unleash 12 separate albums alongside six vinyls in once-a-month installments. The project is comprised of a, “combination of Madlib’s new hip-hop productions, remixes, beat tapes, and jazz, as well as mixtapes of funk, soul, Brazilian, psych, jazz and other undefined forms of music,” according to Stones Throw’s website.

The first release from the series, Before the Verdict, includes raps from fellow Stones-affiliate Guilty Simpson. Verdict will feature a combination of remixed tracks and fresh material from the pairing, as they continue to prepare for their self-titled debut album under the collective moniker OJ Simpson (release date not announced). The first single, “Papers”, is now available for download. This duo was first matched together on the Jaylib track, “Strapped”, from Champion Sound.

Before the Verdict will be available from Stones Throw in December, and available nationally in January of 2010.
