Freeway Releasing ‘Stimulus’ on Rhymesayers
Freeway, an MC you may just know well best as “the one with the beard”, will be releasing a solo album titled Stimulus Package on Rhymesayers Entertainment in February. Philadelphia Freeway is one of those MCs that seems to be constantly evolving and reinventing, bouncing fluidly between murdering underground classics and moving hundreds of thousands of albums for majors. The new album, due out February 16–the one-year anniversary of the American Recovery and Reinvestment act being signed into law by Obama–will be entirely produced by Seattle super-drummer Jake One.
The relationship between Jake, Freeway and Rhymesayers most likely stemmed from one of the most talked about tracks on White Van Music, Jake One’s showcase album released on Rhymesayers last year. “The Truth” featured Rhymesayers co-founder Brother Ali splitting verses with then-major-label Freeway in a way that turned many-a-heads. The track created major buzz on both underground and mainstream circuits and may well have garnered the type of buzz that made this collaboration an easy decision. Expect to see a similar track featuring Ali on Stimulus.
