Sapient Releases ‘Letterhead’ Remix to Raise Funds for Arrested Graffiti Artist Revok

Sapient Releases 'Letterhead' Remix to Raise Funds for Arrested Graffiti Artist RevokThe Portland MC and graff artist hopes to cover some of Revok’s legal fees with the formal release of his remix track.

Just days after it was announced that world-renowned graffiti artist Revok has been arrested in Los Angeles on an outstanding warrant for failure to repay victims of his previous vandalism, Portland MC and fellow graff artist, Sapient, has announced that he has released a special remix of his track “Letterhead” and will be donating the proceeds to help the imprisoned artist.

“If you follow the West Coast Graffiti scene to any extent, you know the name Revok,” wrote Sapient on his website. “The L.A.-based writer that goes by that moniker was arrested last week and is facing 180 days in jail and possible felony charges.”

Sapient continued, explaining that he was also charged with a felony for his work as a graffiti artist in 2002.

To help offset some of the costs stemming Revok’s arrest, legal fees and staggeringly-high $320,000 bail amount, Sape is offering a remix version of the title track from his 2008 solo album, Letterhead, available on iTunes. The new version of the track features fellow Sandpeople member, Illmaculate, and Seattle rapper, Macklemore.

Priced at the normal price of 99 cents, Sapient says that 100% of the proceeds he received from sales will be donated to Revok’s legal defense.

The remix of the graffiti-themed “Letterhead” can be purchased from iTunes.
