Brother Ali, Toki Wright To Play Benefit For Tornado Victims in MinnesotaThe two Rhymesayers artists are tapped to contribute their talents to a show that will help raise funds for devastated families.

Just two weeks after the Twin Cities’ Northside was struck by massive storms and tornadoes, Rhymesayers has announced that two artists on their roster — Brother Ali and Toki Wright — will be taking part in a massive benefit concert to raise funds for victims.

Northside: A Twin Cities Community Benefit, the name of the event, will showcase a multitude of local Minnesota-based talent from many different genres. Organizers of the event — an all-volunteer staff — are hoping to raise $100,000 for those who lost their homes and well-being in the natural disasters that struck on May 22. Approximately 5,000 homes were damaged or destroyed in the storms.

In addition to raising funds, 500 victims will be given free tickets to the event, according to the official website.

Rhymesayers’ artists Brother Ali and Toki Wright were added to a line-up of over 20 artists, including acts such as Sounds of Blackness, Soul Asylum, Robert Robinson, Larry Long, Tonia Hughes, Billy McLaughlin and Sara Renner.

Tickets for the event go on sale today, June 3, and will be available up until the day of the show on June 12.

The event will take place at the Hennepin Theatre Trust’s State Theatre. Doors will open at 4pm and music will start at 5pm.

Tickets cost between $26.50 and $101.50 based on seat location, and limited VIP tickets are available for $251.50. These can be purchased either through Ticketmaster or on the Hennepin Theatre Trust’s official website.
