Questlove: Group With Amy Winehouse WILL Happen

Questlove: Group with Amy Winehouse WILL HappenIn an interview with Spinner, Roots’ drummer (and producer) ?uestlove, explained that it’s only a matter of time before a collaborative group consisting of himself, Raphael Saadiq and Amy Winehouse begin working together.

The drummer says that Winehouse, who has made headlines over the past years for her issues with drinking and drug abuse, is currently not able to enter the United States, which is the groups only current impediment. “[The collaboration is] definitely going to happen — it’s just that we have to work overtime to get her visa situation together. The closest she can come to the States is Jamaica,” he explained to Spinner.

Raphael Saadiq will be playing the guitar for the troubled misses, while Questo will do what he does best as part of the group, according to reports.

This announcement comes literally two weeks after the release of the Roots’ latest LP, How I Got Over, which sold an overshadowed-but-still-impressive 51,000 units in its first week. Also, following the release of that album, the hip hop ensemble announced that they would be working more feverishly with soul singer John Legend and producing a collaborative album.

Neither of these projects have a set time line, but given the work ethic of Questlove and the other artists involved, it’s a safe bet that we’ll see them sooner rather than later.
