Jay Electronica Lands Spot In Mountain Dew Commercial

Jay Electronica Tapped for Mountain Dew CommercialWell, that was fast.

From the proverbial realms of the underground to the height of the limelight in what seems to be no time flat, it was recently revealed that Jay Electronica will be making his small-screen debut in the near future as he was recently commissioned to perform his track “The Announcement” for a commercial promoting Mountain Dew.

Miss Info reports that Jay Electronica was called on by PepsiCo to aid in the creation of their newest commercial — part of a campaign for their Mountain Dew Code Red — called “No Distractions.”

Tapping into the recent Roc Nation signee’s latest single, “The Announcement” — which was originally unveiled to celebrate his long-awaited record deal — the commercial was filmed in Jay Elect’s hometown of New Orleans. This spot marks the latest in a string of hip-hop-related ads coordinated by New York- and London-based creative company, Anomaly. Prior to this spot, the company is credited with creating Converse’s “Band of Ballers” campaign, which eventually partnered the clothing and sneaker brand with Diplomats member, Jim Jones.

As for the release date of Elect’s major-label debut, that remains to be seen. No information has been released at this time.
