‘Max Payne 3′ Release Date Announced
According to a report from IGN, Rockstar games announced today that the third installment of their highly-successful series, “Max Payne”, is set to drop next March on all major platforms, except for Nintendo Wii.
“Max Payne 3 gave us an amazing creative opportunity to evolve one of our most iconic characters,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, according to IGN. “We’re excited to show fans a modern version of Max that pulls them back into his dark and twisted story.”
The company revealed that the single-player campaign for “Max Payne 3″ will pick up where the second game left off. Max is working as a private security agent for a wealthy family in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the story arch follows his quest to clear his name.
Multiplayer experience will consist of what they called a, “rich leveling and reward system.”
The “Max Payne” franchise was launched originally in 2001 with a PC version of the game, followed by a console and Apple-compatible version dropping in 2002. The sequel, “Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne” was released in 2003. Since then, the game has been adapted into a movie (Max Payne, 2008). This will be the first entry into the series in nine years.
“Max Payne 3″ is scheduled to be released in March of 2012.
