Vinnie Paz Talks New Jedi Mind Tricks Album Without Stoupe, Announces Australian Tour Dates

Vinnie Paz Talks New Jedi Mind Tricks Album Without Stoupe, Announces Australian Tour DatesVinnie speaks candidly about Stoupe’s absence and reveals new tour dates for down under.

Hardcore rap group Jedi Mind Tricks recently announced the release of their seventh group LP, Violence Begets Violence, which will not feature production from long-time in-house producer, Stoupe. This week, JMT MC, Vinnie Paz, spoke up about the split, and, in addition, announced a line upcoming Winter tour stops in Australia.

“Some of you have heard by now that this is the first Jedi Mind Tricks album we’ve made without Stoupe handling the production,” wrote Vinnie Paz on the Jedi Mind Tricks’s website. “Bottom line is at some point after making our last album, A History of Violence, Stoupe lost his passion for making hip-hop and wanted to try new things.”

“Through our career, we’ve always waited on him to get inspired to make a new album, but this time around we got tired of waiting out his creative drought,” Paz explained, saying that although him and Jus Allah tried to get Stoupe onto the album, it became apparent that he had lost his desire to do the hardcore, gritty type of rap music that Jedi Mind Tricks have come to be known for.

He closed by promising that the group will continue to produce the music they’re known for, despite the lack of Stoupe. “The last thing we want to do is to try to pull the wool over your eyes, so we wanted to let you know upfront about Stoupe,” he wrote. “But also let you know that we’re still Jedi Mind Tricks…we still are, and always will be, making hardcore shit no matter who mans the boards.”

In addition, Jedi Mind Tricks are scheduled to embark on their first-ever Australian tour this December. The group will be playing a total of five shows near the start of the month. They’ll be joined by Army of the Pharaohs affiliates, Outerspace. Check out the full list of Jedi Mind Tricks 2011 Australian tour dates below.
