Immortal Technique Speaks at ‘Occupy Wall Street’ Protests
The politically-inclined MC weighs in the the newest grass-roots movement.
Immortal Technique, the Harlem rapper, visited the Occupy Wall Street protests this past week to offer his own input on the situation and the actions taken by those protesting the greed of Wall Street employees.
A video that appears to be from someone’s camera phone captures the “Dance With The Devil” rapper speaking to a crowd. He discusses the state of the economy and compares our society to others around the world.
“I’m tired of seeing the way that the [Occupy] Wall Street movement has been marginalized,” Immortal Technique said in the video. He continues, by saying that the people who are marginalizing the movement are attempting to make them look as though they are “conspirators”.
Protesters have been occupying the Wall Street district for nearly two weeks now, many laying down mattresses in nearby parks and even sleeping in the area. What was originally a small gathering of a few dozen citizens has since grown into demonstrations by thousands of Americans and leading to similar protests breaking out across the country — as far away as San Francisco.
The Occupy Wall Street movement has birthed a nation-wide progressive, grass-roots push to end greed by Wall Street executives, corporate bail outs, tax cuts for the wealthy and other political agenda items they say are “poisoning” the country.
