Exclusive: Blu Drops From Warner Brothers
The “Blu Collar Worker” says he’s done with Warner.
California rapper Blu revealed in a recent interview with aboveGround that he has dropped from Warner Brothers Records as of late October.
The rapper, who recently handed out free copies of his to-be-Warner-debut album, NoYork! at this year’s Rock The Bells stops, told aboveGround that his relationship has been terminated with the label. He was hesitant to offer further details of the break, but said that the split took place sometime around Halloween.
Blu declined to comment whether the split from Warner was in any way related to his release of the record outside of the major label’s control.
Blu, who is currently in the midst of a tour with Open Mike Eagle, J Natural and Colorless, is offering the entire album for purchase. It’s comprised for four separate discs, each baring a letter to spell the word “York”.
No other details about the current state of future Blu releases is available at this time. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
