The Roots Working on 13th Album, ‘Undun’, For 2011 Release
Legendary Roots crew hits the studio to work on their next release.
?uestlove of Philly’s Roots crew took to Twitter this week to unveil that the group is amid studio sessions for their next release, which they’ve slated to drop before the year is out.
“Day 1 of [The Roots] 13th album: #[Undun],” tweeted the funky drummer on Tuesday. He included first-person look at his drum kit.
Seven hours later, Questo offered another tweet, this one including a 24-second video that previewed a track presumably from the forthcoming album.
Today, OkayPlayer — the Internet base for the crew — cooberated the announcement, revealing that the album is due out sometime in 2011. They also revealed that the group will continue to work with Def Jam, the imprint for the album.
Undun will mark the latest from the crew since their 2010 record, How I Got Over, which received some mixed reception from fans but generally positive reviews from critics. Although this will be their 13th release in total, it is considered the group’s 10th full-length studio album (not including EPs, collaborations and soundtracks).
