Lauryn Hill Announces Moving Target: Extended Intimate Playdate Series Tour Dates

Lauryn Hill Announces Moving Target: Extended Intimate Playdate Series Tour DatesMs. Hill announces that she’ll be playing a slew of additional tour dates.

After announcing a tour earlier in the year, Lauryn Hill recently revealed, via her website, that she’ll be extending the dates. The new shows will consist of more intimate performances at small venues across the country, she said in the announcement.

“One of the benefits of playing venues smaller than the ones I’m used to allows me the opportunity to not only reconnect with my supporters,” wrote Ms. Hill, “but to expose them to a portion of the musical journey I’ve been on which the world for the most part has not had access to.”

Since her reemergence into the spotlight in 2010, Lauryn Hill has been criticized in many news reports, often being condemned for showing up late to shows and poor vocal performances. Hill hopes to address these issues in the smaller spaces, she said.

“These more intimate playdates afford me the time to perform for listeners who haven’t heard from me over the past several years or have been misinformed by the inaccuracies in some media coverage, many of which I might add, I find very amusing.”

Although she didn’t address any particular issues, she does seem to own up to some of her potential shortcomings at earlier dates, saying that she hopes to continue to improve. “Getting back out there to perform is a lot like resuming a strenuous sport after having been away from it for a while, but eventually the muscle memory kicks in,” she wrote on the announcement, “and each day brings progressive strength. It’s an exciting and REAL process which these audiences will get to witness.”
