A bunch of new albums for the week of August 16 from artists like Freestyle Fellowship, Cool Kids, Slaine, Declaime and more.

A near-record number of new albums dropping this week. With such a wide variety of sounds it seems likely that there’s something for hip hop fans of all persuasions.

Freestyle Fellowship – The Promise

Although the official release had yet to be announced by Decon, Freestyle Fellowship’s newest effort, according to Amazon, is due out this week. The Promise reunites the left-coast crew for the first time in about a decade.

Brass Knuckle Bullies – BKB

The relatively-unknown folk-rap group Brass Knuckle Bullies release their self-titled acronym album. Customary and Dominique Berho blend their interesting brand of twangy guitars and honest rhymes for a dope effort.

Slaine – A World With No Skies 2.0

Slaine’s delayed A World With No Skies is finally liberated in its new, sample-free form. The La Coka Nostra MC has waited over eight months for the album to come to fruition in retail form, and now it finally sees a release via Suburban Noize Records.

The video for Awol One & Ecid’s Staring Death In The Bulls Eye may have you trying to adjust your screen but once you get your eyes to catch up with it it’s worth a look/listen.

Their album Awol One & Ecid Are… dropped in January, with Access Hip Hop having this to say about it:

While touring the Midwest years ago Awol One and Minneapolis MC/Producer and Fill In The Breaks label owner Ecid began building the foundation for a classic collaboration. Two years and many L.A./ Minneapolis flights later they have constructed a cohesive album built on Ecid’s trademark production and balanced by Awol and Ecid’s knack for witty sarcasm and melodic hooks. Unlike so many forced and ill planned collaborations before them, this new duo had no intentions of just running through the motions, they wanted to make an unapologetic, raw and focused record. Hard beats, dark atmosphere…the kind of stuff I like to hear Awol One rhymin’ on! Featuring guest appearances by Gel Roc, Sector7G, Capaciti, and Jordan Miche!
